Glad to see the team got the 1st win of the season and a gigantic monkey off Coach Eckler's back. With a final score of 16-10, Weekend Printer defeated the newly voted "best dressed" team in the league in Shamrock Jacks. This team looked like the trash talking wanna-be club from the Sandlot -- and just like that movie, they got their asses kicked by Hamilton Porter (AJ Randisi 4-4 5RBI's) and Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez (Dan Witkowski 4-4 2 Doubles and 3 Runs). Seriously Shamrock Jacks, had a coach, they had girlfriends with supportive signs, they had 2/3 of the Golden Girls cast who spent the latter half of the game on our bench....where the fuck was Betty White! In the end, this is one reporter who will not mind seeing that team again on June 27th provided those "athletic support" fans come to the game as well.
Game Notes;
McAlpin's Knuckelball was working, but his bat was not 0-4 never hitting the ball out of the infield. Miller, also grounded into a FC in the 3rd keeping the streak alive.
Next game is at 6PM on field 2 against Hooligans. Bring your sunglasses.
The tradition that goes along with putting on the black t-shirt dawned with the fat printer slaving over a press cannot be put into words. Once a Weekend Printer Softball player, always a weekend printer softball player.

Weekend Printer Starts Season 0-2.
Summary - Well that sucked. The team that lost only four games all year, put up a make-shift lineup that dropped the first two games of the season. First to Daisy Dukes and then to the dreaded team Sanfilippo pretends to manage.
Game 1 - Nobody cared, Phillips drank beer, the weather dropped 15 degrees and the top of the lineup was 3-9. Ditrinco did go 4-5 and hit for the cycle according to the scorebook. The surprise of the game came from a HR by none other then Mr. Baseball himself Dan McAlpin who proceeded to round the bases waving his cap to the crowd (take fucking notice Ted Williams).
Game 2 - Really. We stopped keeping score and quit in the 5th. I remember a lot of baseballs going missing.
That means Eckler, is 0-2 on the season as new manager. Did anybody really think he was the answer to this teams off-season troubles. Next week is at 7:15 against Shamrock Jacks.

Happy New Year - 2012
Happy New Year! - Welcome back Weekend Printer fans to another year of old man softball. We have a number of players returning from last year's championship squad, as well as some new faces and players returning from injury. It's time to meet the regulars.
Jeff Eckler (Manager) SS, 2B - Taking over for Air Traffic Controller wannabe Ryan O'Hare, Eckler returns to manage the 2012 team. Sporting a 5-78 lifetime softball managerial record, the only direction to go is up. Lets hope he doesn't put himself in the leadoff spot every game.
AJ Randisi C, 1B - Season veteran Deuce returns to do some damage in the middle of the lineup this season. The new father spent the off season getting in shape by taking verbal abuse from his lovely wife, and remodeling the basement. Everybody expects him to hit as usual provided his father bought him one of those new bats.
Chris Miller LC - The new husband returns after removing his tampon from his A$$ reportedly that was causing a season long back injury in 2011. He still hasn't bought a new glove, and while singles will be plenty from the consistent .380 hitter, so will be the FC to 3B every game.
Randell Sierens RF- Fan favorite and long-time veteran returns to the lineup. As always, Dell will be prepared to play every game and probably the only player on the team guaranteed never to be ejected. Rumor has it he is taking the summer off from obtaining his Masters degree to focus on his defense.
Ryan O'Hare LF - Ryan's offseason troubles have been well documented. The league has banned him from ever forming a team again due to illegal roster additions used to generate a 160-4 record last season. We have heard rumors the team is still upset with O'Hare for reportedly attempting to sell of the teams equipment at the end of the season to pay off the league fee debts.
Dan Witkowski RC - "Season starts after 4/20 right? I'm good. Has Wit lost a step? We don't think so, but eventually those habits do catch up to you.
Charlie Ditrinco 1B - The team is a bit concerned that their star first basemen has forgotten where he came from. Charlie now plays travel, and reportedly has lost interest in summer softball and hardball. That combined with his job at the "Crab Shack" could lead to performance issues. The team is looking to find ways to keep him motivated. Open to suggestions.
Greg Phillips 3B, P, C, DH, Scorebook, Bench, Drunk - Greg is either going to put this team over the top or in the ground. Only time will tell. Do you know what it means to wear the black t-shirt Greg? Do you? However he does average a HR a game and generally brings a 12-pack.
Ben Randisi - 1B, 2B - Ben is engaged. Ben's shoulder is better. Ben will hit. Ben will field. Ben will talk fantasy baseball and x-box. Ben is Ben. Lets not forget that he once dominated all of little league and only two season ago took home the batting title. Welcome back Ben.
Mike Garbarino - OF - Mike made his way on the team by being friends with Charlie. However he hits well enough to replace the lost OF from seasons past. He made a splash with the team on Monday nights last year has has earned the call-up to Wednesday Blue League. Welcome to the big leagues son. Perhaps somebody should hit him.
Dan McAlpin P - The backbone of the Weekend Printer team. He has been so good for so long with only one pitch. The Rivera of softball leagues. He won't field his position, but he will lead the league in K's per 7INN. As long as the team provides him offense, Dan will win games. Someday, the team plans to resurrect a statue in Bronze somewhere in the back of Kent Park just like his grandfather has at Frontier.
